Glass and ceramics
Calcium carbonate thanks to its iron content in very low concentrations (0.005%) and high purity, it enables the production of pure crystalline glass products that give the closest and most clear appearance to the natural color of glass.
Calcium carbonate is also another main component in ceramic production along with silica sand. It is an economical source of calcium oxide needed as a fluxing agent at high temperatures (1050 ° C). It increases the mechanical and chemical strength of the glass body and reduces shrinkage caused by fire.
Application scope:
– Soda-lime-silica glass (flat glass, glass vessels, tableware, fiberglass, electrical glass)
– Borosilicate glass (heat-resistant glasses, optical glasses, chemical-resistant glasses)
– Lead glass (optical glasses, electrical resistance glasses)
