Cables
Calcium carbonate is generally used in the protective covering of mining wires and cables, high-voltage wires and cables, marine wires and cables, electrical wires and cable glue.
Grinded calcium carbonate treated with stearic acid is a desirable component in plastic cable assemblies due to its economic advantage and its properties that contribute to achieving the desired electrical, mechanical and thermal properties.
The cables are made of solid materials or stranded copper core. The previous fire-resistant cable sheath was made of PVC plastic, which is flammable, while the fire causes smoke and waste of large amounts of toxic gases, endangering human life. The use of calcium carbonate is the ideal solution to this problem. Calcium carbonate is non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and does not affect the environment. – The thermal decomposition temperature of calcium carbonate is above 800, and the general plastic is flammable, and its ignition temperature is about 400, so the initial combustion stage, the hope of calcium carbonate decomposition into carbon dioxide is not possible.
